Fredda Gussman
Fredda was born in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. She
was raised by an Orthodox Jewish father and a Reform Jewish
mother so the household was a Conservative and observant one.
After 8 years of Hebrew school, Fredda won a scholarship to a
Hebrew high school where all courses were taught in Hebrew. She
also attended the Philadelphia High for Girls followed by Temple
University where she earned a BS in Secondary Education with a
concentration in Social Studies in Dec 1974. The following
summer she attended West Chester University where she received a
certificate to teach Special Education K-12.
Since Fredda’s first love was always math, she then attended St
Joseph’s University where she received a certificate to teach
Secondary Mathematics. Following in the family tradition, she
graduated from Arcadia ( then Beaver College) with MA in
Mathematics and Computer Science in 1980. Her master’s project
was to write a computer programming language to have the
computer teach a statistics course to non –math majors on a
college level. She’s a total geek.
Fredda went on the teach for over 34 years in the city of
Philadelphia. Most of the time was spent at her alma mater,
teaching math, social studies, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, and
AP statistics. She retired from the district in June 2009. She
taught as an adjunct professor at Jefferson and Drexel
Universities from 1980 until 2001 when her Dean asked her to
follow to Neumann University where she is still currently on
staff.
Fredda came to know the Lord in 1984. She received Him into her
heart at Calvary Chapel and was there until her pastor had a
vision for her to move on and discover Messianic Judaism so her
dad could be saved (which he was!) Fredda’s passions are for
intercessory prayer and cooking. She loves people and is looking
forward to her time at Cornerstone!
