Richard Fisher
Richard D. Fisher (Rick) was born in the Overbrook Park
section of Philadelphia, PA in 1947. His family moved to Bucks
County in 1955 and he completed his early education, eventually
graduating from Delhaas High School in 1965.
Rick served 3 ½ years on the US Air Force as a Veterinarian
Specialist from May 1966 until Nov. 1969. After being honorably
discharged in 1969, he returned to Temple University in
Philadelphia and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in
Education, as well as 30 additional graduate credits, beyond his
Masters, in the field of education.
He then chose to teach in the inner city schools of
Philadelphia,. He taught every grade from 2nd to 8th grade, and
he thoroughly enjoyed the years spent in his chosen career. He
happily retired from the Philadelphia School System in June
2004.
In May of 1990, Rick accepted Yeshua as his Messiah and has
never turned back. Since then he has been a faithful member of
Beth Yeshua in Philadelphia. He has many responsibilities in the
congregation, including his major ministry of overseeing the
Dance Ministry. He has traveled throughout this country as well
as to England to teach dance, and has no intention of stopping
in the near future! In fact, he will be traveling to Israel this
summer to minister in dance.
After retirement from the Philadelphia School System, Rick was
invited to be a part of the ministry team at the Messianic
Jewish Alliance. Then in 2005, he was invited to teach World
History at Cornerstone High School and he found it so enjoyable
that he is now midway through his third year at this wonderful
school. He finds it to be such a blessing to teach in a school
that has wonderful students and where God is not only allowed,
but is totally welcomed. What an unbelievably positive change
from where he'd been!
In his spare time, Rick attends theater, enjoys taking photos of
his family, students, and many friends, and also enjoys
traveling. His students voted him the best teacher they have!
